Good Earth Master Gardeners Annual Plant Sale - May 10th

 




‍Racing at the Salem Speedway - May 10th

‍The Derby Hangover Duel 75’s will take place on Sunday, May 4th (Rescheduled to May 10th due to weather) with the Diesel Boys GAS Series and the Mike’s Mufflers & Brakes Crown Vic Big Track Series racing in 75 lap features. Also racing that day will be the Salem Super Cars, Crown Vic Short Track Series and the first Legends event of the season.


‍Cruise N' on the Salem Square - May 9th


‍Local car enthusiasts will have their cars and trucks on display on the Salem square beginning at 5:00pm. Visit the historic Salem Square for dinner and enjoy the classic cars and trucks, hot rods and more.


Beck's Mill Wildflower Walk - May 10


Make plans for May 10th at 10am for a wildflower walk along the trails at Beck's Mill.  The Wildflower walk is $10.00 cash and requires a reservation by calling and leaving a message at 812-883-5147. Hike will be led DNR naturalist, Jeremy Beavin.

Armed Forces Day and Special Military Exhibit - Opens May 17th

‍
The John Hay Center invites you to an opening of a temporary special military exhibit. Free museum admission for veterans and opportunity to share oral histories on our country’s conflicts.


‍Fiber Revival at Beck's Mill - May 17th 


‍
This event features the very rare running of both the carding machines!  The Fiber Revival activities will begin at 10:00am. 


The carding machines are dated to 1816 and considered the oldest in the country...only 5 are left to our knowledge & our 2 are the mills originals! The carding machines were restored in 2007-2008 at the Lovett Mill in Tennessee. Many sheep to Shaw demonstrations...sheep shearing, spinning classes, felting classes, dyeing classes, weaving, quilting, hand carding, crochet and knitting.
