Welcome to summer in Washington County! It’s the perfect time to explore all the things Washington County has to offer! Whether you're craving a quiet walk or bicycle ride along the Monon Trail, the roar of race cars, or shopping and dinner out on the town we have it all.
 


‍Cruise'N on the Salem Square - August 8th


‍‍Local car enthusiasts will have their cars and trucks on display on the Salem square beginning at 5:00pm. Visit the historic Salem Square for dinner and enjoy the classic cars and trucks, hot rods and more.


‍USAC Silver Crown Series at The Salem Speedway - August 9th

‍On Saturday, August 9th, Salem will welcome back the USAC Silver Crown Series who last competed at Salem Speedway in 2020, where Kody Swanson claimed his fifth consecutive Silver Crown win at Salem! The Legends will also race that night, with another support division to be announced.


‍Explore the Monon South Trail - Now Open


‍The Monon South Trail section through Salem is now open for walking and cyclists! This section is 2.7 miles in length, all of which is paved. In addition to the trail segment, the Monon South Trail team dedicated the Salem Boxcar earlier in the year. The boxcar will serve as a trailhead landmark for the Monon South Trail in Salem for years to come. Park your car at the Boxcar Trailhead parking area. 

 

Phase 1A of the project was completed in June 2025 and opened approximately 20 miles of trail through Borden, New Pekin, Salem, Saltillo, Campbellsburg, Orleans, and Mitchell.

‍Model A Car Show at The John Hay Center - August 23rd



‍Bike Night on the Salem Square - August 23rd

‍Just a chance to everyone to wind down from the benefit/Charity ride of the day or just to meet up and just meet other bikers in the area. All motorcycles welcome. Bikers tend to park on the East (shady) shady side of the square. There is plenty to do at this event. You have several things to do within walking distance from the venue. Also, this is a kid friendly event. So if you have you kiddo with you, bring them out. Food Truck: Schocke's Food Truck will be serving up the BBQ.


B‍eck's Mill 217th Birthday Party Celebration - August 23rd

‍
Featuring The Corydon Dulcimer Society playing at 11:30am, birthday cake provided by Walmart, spinning, blacksmithing and tomahawk throwing. Special adult admission of $2.16

Other Activities

2:00pm - Live music performed by Larry Cline and friends.

Parking Lot Activities

Blue River Fire Department will serve food (Pulled pork BBQ, Coleslaw, Baked beans and Chips). Craft and flea market vendors will be onsite. Beck’s Mill Moonshine History by Alan Bishop

‍Full Throttle Monster Trucks at The Salem Speedway - August 23rd


‍The track will host a new event on Saturday, August 23rd, with the Full Throttle Monster Trucks featuring Bigfoot, who is celebrating their 50th Anniversary Season in 2025! Monster Trucks will make a return to the Figure 8 track as part of this event! The track will also have racing on the High Banks that evening with the Diesel Boys GAS Series and Mike’s Mufflers & Brakes Crown Vic Big Track Series.
