AWARENESS WASHINGTON CO. CHILI COOK-OFF - MARCH 14TH
The 9th annual Chili Cook Off will be held March 14 from 4-7 at Southern Hills Church, Competition is open to anyone interested, and cash prizes will be awarded in several categories. There will be a prize for the judged Best Red Chili, as well as the judged Best White Chili. In addition, there are People’s Choice awards for Best Chili and Best Decorated booth. Other features of the event are the famous dessert auctions and the cookie cart. There will also be items available in the Silent Auction and the Bag Raffle.

RACING BEGINS IN MARCH AT THE SALEM SPEEDWAY
Exciting new changes are underway at the Speedway for the 2026 season! For over 65 years Salem Speedway has enjoyed the recognition of being one of the most unique and renowned racetracks in America. Salem is a track steeped in history with many of the giants in auto racing having competed on the treacherous “hills” at some point in their careers. Situated in the scenic hills of southern Indiana, the Salem Speedway roars to life with upwards of 12-15 “Special Events” per year.

MONON SOUTH TRAIL NOW OPEN
The Monon South Trail is a 57-mile walking and cycling trail between Mitchell and the Clark/Floyd County border that connects eight local communities in the Lawrence, Orange, Washington, and Clark Counties uplands region of southern Indiana. The greenway trail offers dramatic vistas of the Indiana farmland and linkages to several regional natural destinations, including nearby state parks and recreation facilities.

KNOBSTONE 50 - APRIL 11TH
The Knobstone 50, a point-to-point 50-mile trail running race along the Knobstone Trail from Deam Lake to Delaney Creek Park. The KT is often described as one of the most challenging trails in the state and commonly referred to as “The Little AT” due to its steep, hilly landscape, reminiscent of the Appalachian Mountains. The course travels Northward from Deam Lake State Park to Delaney Creek Park, accumulating roughly 10,000ft of elevation gain throughout.

BECK'S MILL SPRING WILDFLOWER WALK & CHICKEN BAR-B-QUE - APRIL 18TH
Celebrating “The shots heard around the world” in honor of our Nation’s 250th birthday along with a Spring Wildflower Nature Hike/Chicken Barbecue. The walk will begin at 10 am, fee is $10.00 and requires a reservation. Meal includes 2 sides for $9.00 and benefits the mill & Mt. Carmel Cemetery fund. Sponsored by Walmart.

BIKE NIGHTS ON THE SALEM SQUARE
Visit the Historic Salem Square by bike and park your motorcycle on the East (shady) side of the square so everyone can get some shade after riding. There are a variety of shops and restaurants and things "to do" on the Salem Square. All motorcycles are welcome and a family friendly event.

PEKIN 4TH OF JULY CELEBRATION - JULY 3RD / 4TH
The town of Pekin claims the distinction of having the oldest consecutive Independence Day celebration in the United States of America. Pekin began celebrating Independence Day in the year 1830. The Festival includes a parade, fireworks, Cornhole Tournament, Royalty contests, concerts and much more. The 4th of July celebration managed by the Pekin Community Betterment Organization, INC is a non-profit organization that is 100% operated by volunteers and fully funded by sponsors, donors, and grants.

GRIND XIII GAYLE COOK MEMORIAL 5K RUN/WALK AND CHICKEN BARBECUE - SEPTEMBER 12TH
Register for the annual 5K Run/Walk at Historic Beck's Mill. The run/walk begins at 9:00am Runners will receive breakfast by Shady Patch as part of their entry fee. Entry information TBA, BBQ begins at 11 am and sponsored by Mt Carmel, Tyson and Walmart. A local Mustang Car Club will be displaying about 20 cars at 2:00pm.
